Initially arising out of reggae , Jamaican Dancehall music took shape in the early 1980s during a new sound . First sounds were rooted in riddims spun by sound systems, highlighting DJs rapping on simple instrumental tracks . The music soon progressed blending aspects of hip hop and electronic sounds , leading a more electronic feel and more energe
